This paper presents the efforts of Tamás Gábor Csapó (1985–2024), who – due to his extensive international connections – played a key role in the initialization of ultrasound tongue imaging in Hungary as well as in the development of Silent Speech Interface (SSI) systems and other speech technology applications that support the lives of people with speech disabilities.
