The evolution of speech and the experimental method by Rousselot

Rousselot’s contributions are known for the development of new instruments to study the sounds of speech. However, Rousselot’s conception of the evolution of speech sounds and the validation of the experimental method in phonetics are two crucial contributions that are fundamental to understand the establishment of phonetics as the science of human language sounds. This paper discusses both points.
