The earliest manifestations of the interest towards child language and language acquisition process in Hungary dates back to the first decade of the 19th century. The aim of this study is to present an early scientific work which belongs to this domain. As it relates to the topic, the presented work is interesting in itself, but it is worth to be known also for other reasons. This study undertakes to recall the scholarly context of the time, the life, personality and scientific achievement of the author, and also the contribution that this work brought to increase the factual knowledge about the process of the speech development of children.
