Interpretation of context-dependent utterances in man-machine dialogue

E. Gerbino, Paolo Baggia

This paper describes a strategy for maintaining the information necessary to interpret Context-dependent utterances. The interpretation context of an utterance can be defined as the information that are necessary to interpret it in a plausible way. Context-dependent utterances usually present linguistic phenomena like: Elliptical Reference or Anaphora. The paper, starting from utterance examples pertaining to the application domain, will describe the use of the interpretation context structures and the resulting interpretation process of context-dependent utterances.
