Fundamental frequency (F0) curves can be factored into two components: a microsegmental profile and a macrosegmental profile. The microsegmental profile reflects deviations from an idealised continuous and smooth macrosegmental profile which can be closely modelled as a quadratic spine function interpolating between a sequence of target points (ms;hz).
